The Caerphilly Dark Castle Tour

**We never sell through third parties. Tickets only valid if purchased directly from our website with a unique order number and date/time stamp allocated by us**

Enter the dark world of one of Europe's greatest fortresses!

DARK TOURS: shorter than our "Premium" ghost walks, but exactly the same style and approach as our regular ghost tours, with all their eerie atmosphere, history, legends and true ghost stories and, as they are shorter, suitable for a slightly lower minimum age.

A chance to explore the largest castle in Wales at night after the gates have been locked to the general public! A walk through its passageways, chambers and towers, with stories of its dark brutal history, its legends, and its ghosts!

Caerphilly castle is believed to be haunted. However, modern day accounts of paranormal incidents are brief and fleeting.

This tour is a unique experience of an atmospheric, and at times eerie, guided tour of the castle at night and in the dark with tales of its dark history, its legends, and what we know about reported ghostly sightings.

THIS TOUR IS DIFFERENT FROM OUR OTHER "DARK TOURS": No one has lived in Caerphilly Castle for at least 450 years, so we do not have the rich bank of eyewitness accounts of ghosts compared to our other venues. As these tours continue we hope to build our own bank of experiences, but we are not there yet. Nevertheless we do have accounts old and new, so they form part of this 90 minute atmospheric tour in the dark, along with stories of this castle's dark history, dark characters and legends. It is a unique chance to be in a mighty castle at night in the dark made possible through a partnership between Cardiff History and Hauntings and Cadw. Cadw is the Welsh Government’s historic environment service working for an accessible and well-protected historic environment for Wales. Cadw is responsible for Caerphilly Castle.

Time: 7pm

What to expect: A guided tour through the castle towers, chambers and passageways focusing on the darker side of its history and legends. We also enter or look upon those parts of the building rumoured to be haunted, telling what information we have about ghostly goings on. The tour includes ascending and descending spiral staircases. Steps are narrow and uneven in places and care must be taken at all times. This tour is not recommended for those with limited mobility because of the many steps. We regret that it is not wheelchair accessible.

What should I wear?: Dress to be warm and dry. Much of the tour is indoors but there will be occasions when we are outside. Flat soled shoes or trainers are essential as the tour includes ascending and descending spiral staircases with narrow and uneven steps.

What should I bring? Please bring a torch (flashlight) or tell us if you need to borrow one.

What should I NOT bring?: No alchohol allowed. For the sake of all participants, anyone intoxicated or disruptive will be banned without a refund.

Photography/recording?: no photographs while stories are being told please, and no audio/video recording at any time.
