Enjoy an hour of atmospheric spooky ghost stories told by Bronwen our 18th century barmaid, or Morag our friendly Welsh witch, as you wander through the wooded lanes and creepy graveya

Practicalities

The walk lasts one hour, and aims to tell the ghost stories of Llandaff with a balance of entertainment and spookiness suitable for children aged 7 -11 accompanied by a parent or guardian.

IMPORTANT: THE GHOST WALK IS ENTIRELY OUTDOORS AND IN WET WEATHER THE ROUTE CAN GET MUDDY IN PLACES. DURING WET WEATHER PLEASE WEAR WELLIES AND WRAP UP WARM

How scary is it?: We are frequently asked this!  No attempt is made to intimidate, shock, startle or distress the children. No one will "jump out" and there are no tricks played.  Our friendly guides are professional actors experienced at getting the balance right between mystery, creepiness and a good giggle along the way through the simple power of storytelling and interaction with the group!

Meeting point: Entrance to the Bishop's Palace which is at the corner of Llandaff High Street and the Cathedral Green. Llandaff. The postcode for Llandaff High Street is CF5 2DZ. See the image and the directions below.

Location: The Llandaff Junor Ghost Walk takes place entirely outdoors in the lanes and the graveyard behind Llandaff Cathedral, Llandaff, Cardiff.

Getting there: 

The area where you meet is the junction between Llandaff High Street and Cathedral Close. Click HERE for a map.

By Car

From Cardiff:

- A4119 (Cathedral Road, Cardiff Road, Llantrisant Road). Follow signs to Llandaff/Llandaff Cathedral. 
- Turn into Llandaff High Street at the Black Lion Pub. Free evening parking at surface car park opposite Spar supermarket.
- walk out of car park and turn immediately right following the High Street past the Butcher's Public House.  You will see the Bishop's Palace ruin on the junction of Llandaff High Street and Cathedral Close.

From M4 (East of Cardiff) - leave M4 at Junction 29 on A48(M), then after 3 miles the A48 (Eastern Avenue).  Remain on A48 and go past the University of Wales Hospital, Gabalfa Interchange, Tesco Extra and Cardiff Metropolitan University. Take left exit following signs for A4119 and Llandaff Cathedral.

From M4 (West of Cardiff) - leave M4 at Junction 32 on A470 South.  Remain on A470 until Gabalfa Interchange.  Turn right on to A48 (Western Avenue) and after 1 mile take left exit and follow signs for A4119 and Llandaff Cathedral.

By Bus

The location is served by regular buses from the city centre numbers 63 and 25 (Cardiff Bus) and 122 (Stagecoach).

Please ask your driver to tell you when you need to alight for Llandaff Cathedral. The bus stop at Llandaff which you need is called "The Black Lion". The meeting point is 200 metres from the bus stop, at the opposite end of Llandaff High Street. Look for the Black Lion pub to find the start of Llandaff High Street. 

Toilet facilities: There are NO toilet facilities on this route.
